More of Limon

Okay, I know what you are thinking. What kind of Canadian who is surrounded by chickens, farms and amimals daily, goes and takes pictures of chickens in another country? Well me, I guess. It´s not that I particulary like roosters or chickens but I find it interesting that they are allowed to roam the streets as they wish. If it were me, I would just go for a walk, steal a chicken and go home to cook it for my family. Fortunately for the people that own the chickens, I probably couldn´t catch one if I tried.

As well, when my dad was admiring a tree, he found two ranas. There is your spanish word of the day. Rana = Frog. See below is a picutre of two small little frogs which I researched and I believe are called the Strawberry Poison Dart Frog which obviously are toxic. And I was going to pick one up. Good thing I thought against it.

A Day in Limon

This morning I was woken up around 5:30 in the morning (which is early to me lately) and told my mom, dad and I were going on a car ride two hours away from here. So I packed up my bag and off we went. Unfortunately, the morning was quite rotten with tons of rain. To get to where we were going we had to drive through the twisty curvy roads of the mountains. Curves and rain made for a long uncomfortable trip there. I have a strong stomach thank goodness though. Once we arrived in the province called Limon, we hopped out of the car to look at some lots of land that were for sale. Meanwhile it was still raining lightly.

I thought it was cute that the trees hung over the road

Hangover Helper Tree
While we were looking at the lots, my father and my uncle decided to tell me about all the different types of trees and what they produce. The picture directly above is a green tree that I can´t quite remember the name of, but I do know that you can take the branches and leaves of the tree and make it into tea. This tea, they told me, is quite useful for getting rid of hangovers. It takes away the bad feeling you feel in your stomach, and with that they said I might need some so they cut off a few branches and put in the car. :P

Above are some of the beautiful plants that Costa Rica strikes me with, everyday. At first, it may look like just a bunch of green but it is so much more. Look closely and you will see that there are so many types of trees that all produce a different type of flower or fruit. It´s amazing.

In and Around the House

Here are a few more photos. The top three are of my kitchen, and where we wash the dishes. In Costa Rica, the sinks are actually outside. Strange eh?¿Below too are a few pictures of the local flowers or plants. Aren´t they different and beautiful¿ I am already having difficulty typing in english. I have already written in Spanish and had to erase it all many times. :P I hope you all enjoy reading and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to post on here. Love you all.

I´m Here! Safe and Sound

Finally I have arrived once again in the gorgeous land in Costa Rica. My travels went really well and I didn´t have any problems with the flying. Thank Goodness. When I arrived in Costa Rica, I was greated by my mother and brother (host) of course. Attached are photos of what I see everday when I look out of the window. The photo with the fence is the local Balnearios (pool) that I can go to whenever I like. As well there is a photo of my house with the bars and the cars. This is actually standard in Costa Rica. All houses have their garage in front of the house with bars so that they can be locked. :) Today I went for a run and I didnt even get 3 minutes in before my calves were KILLING me because I am surrounded by hills and mountains on all sides.

After two years away, I am returning back to Costa Rica for a 7 week vacation. I have no specific plans but I hope to have a relaxing, amazing and different time. I am going to take every opportunity that is proposed to me, and I will jump at every chance to try something new. Hope you enjoy. I will try to update as much as possible. :)

Present Time!

This is in Manzanillo when we gave gifts to all of the kids, and they were all so happy. It was so nice to see and be apart of.

Trip to Manzanillo, Limon

Here was where I got to help kids that families didnt have a lot of money. They played games, danced, had fun, and got presents and treats. I helped out with the cooking and the organizing before the party, and then with a bit of facepainting. It was an amazing experience. And they all had a ball.
