Sadly, I have no photos to show for todays adventures because it started out only to be a simple walk for exercise. I decided to take advantage of the sun and explore the town of Orosi Valley to see all that it had to offer. I had been told of a place called The Otiac that was mainly for Tourists. I went inside and it had such a homey feel to it. There were gorgeous paintings scattered on the wall and lots of books. I loved it. I stayed for a little while and read up on more tourist attractions in Costa Rica. Then I set off to explore some more and was surprised to hear a marching band in the distance close by. Naturally, I did a 360 and followed the sound. I absolutely love watching marching bands in a parade type manner. Girls swinging their battons and guys hitting their drums. It makes my heart jump. Apparantly there are lots of activities going on in Orosi ranging from children games, horse races, to other neat activities to celebrate the church in Orosi.
So what started out as a normal walk turned into a day where I was extrememly happen. This trip compared to last one, I feel is so much better because I walk the streets as a new person. I feel like I can appreciate more things and my eyes are wide open. I am loving this feeling, and I love feeling free. The culture here is so difficult to tell you about because it is almost something that you have to experience.
I´m sure that is could all be compared to Canada but yet it feels so unique. Here:
- People leave their doors open wide but their gates closed.
- If you need them you yell OOPA!
- Many people share everything with their neighbors, others dont know theirs.
- They eat tons and tons of Rice and beans!!! Rice for almost all meals. My family buys 5 2kg packages of rice only for one month. They drink lots of coffee too.
- For the majority of Ticos they are very friendly. People say hello when walking in the streets.
There is so much more but it is difficult comparing because it just FEELS so completely different but in an amazing wonderful beautiful way. Unfortunately I only have 4 1/2 weeks left. I know that I wont want to leave this time.
